World of Warcraft Weapons Guide: Bows – Part 18

This is now the 18th part of the article series focusing on bows. The series has now expanded to numerous articles so read the other articles especially the first ones to understand what we are talking here. So, let us proceed.

Viper Bow

The Viper Bow is an average or mediocre performing bow that has an item level of 93. This bow was added in patch 2.0.1 and since then, it requires players to at least be in the 61st level to bind. Viper Bow binds to a character when it is equipped and when it does, the bow brings a lot of random enchantments. When bound to a character, the Viper Bow will increase the character’s agility by 13, intellect by 13, spirit by 13, stamina by 19, strength by 12, hit rating by 6, critical strike rating by 6, and attack power by a whopping 26 points. Aside from those, the Viper Bow also has a speed rating of 2.70 and, as said, could inflict an average damage to target ticking at 63.6 damage per second or from 120-224 total health damage. However, be wary when using the viper bow as it is not known for being durable. In fact, its durability rating is pretty disappointing for a bow or a weapon in its level. Nevertheless, it is a good weapon to use especially when you are not yet qualified to use the bigger bows. Viper Bow was dropped by 122 characters (including NPCs) throughout the game world; these characters are:

Voone’s Twitchbow

Voone’s Twitchbow was added to World of Warcraft by virtue of patch 1.11.1 as a level 60 item. This ranged WoW weapon binds immediately to a character with level 55 when it is picked up. When that happens, Voone’s Twitchbow will increase the agility of the character by as much as 5 and its stamina by 5. When equipped, this WoW weapon will increase the haste rating of the character by 7 or 0.77%. Aside from those mentioned facts, Voone’s Twitchbow is nothing special. Its speed rating ticks at 3.00 and it can only inflict as much as 51.4 damage per second (107 to 201 total health damage) to its target. Voone’s Twitchbow is more durable compare to Viper Bow but is still less durable compared to other bows in World of Warcraft. This means that caution should still be implemented when using Voone’s Twitchbow. If you do not want to use Voone’s Twitchbow, however, you can use other models that it is similar with. Voone’s Twitchbow is similar to 18 other bows in World of Warcraft; they are:

  1. Bow of Ire (item level is 23 and requires level 19 players)
  2. Deep Strike Bow (item level is 60 and requires level 55 players)
  3. Gryphonwing Long Bow (item level is 55 and requires level 50 players)
  4. Harpyclaw Short Bow (item level is 32 and requires level 27 players)
  5. Houndmaster’s Bow (item level is 52 and requires level 47 players)
  6. Needle Threader (item level is 47 and requires level 42 players)
  7. Quillshooter (item level is 45 and requires level 40 players)
  8. Ranger Bow (item level is 25 and requires level 20 players)
  9. Sandstrider’s Mark (item level is 56 and requires level 54 players)
  10. Skystriker Bow (item level is 39 and requires level 34 players)
  11. Stinging Bow (item level is 55 and requires level 50 players)
  12. Archstrike Bow (item level is 65 and requires level 60 players)
  13. Elune-Blessed Bow (item level is 29 and requires level 26 players)
  14. Mag’har Bow (item level is 93 and requires level 60 players)
  15. Master Hunter’s Bow (item level is 43)
  16. Quillfire Bow (item level is 55 and requires level 50 players)
  17. Raptor’s End (item level is 30)
  18. Scorch Wood Bow (item level is 108 and requires level 65 players)

Wand of Amber

This ranged weapon is one of the plainer bows in World of Warcraft. When we say plain, we mean the power and not the look. Wand of Amber is certainly not plain looking what with its red-fiery arch that looks scorching hot. However, Wand of Amber is plain when it comes to the prowess department. This level 75 item requires players to be in the 70th level first before it can be used. However, do not expect any random enchantments from the Wand of Amber as you will be disappointed if you do so. This bow has a speed rating of 1.30 but could only inflict 65.5 damage per second or from 59 to 111 Fire Damage to its target enemy. If you are interested to get this item then you can go to Dalaran and Borean Tundra as it is sold there by Abra Cadabra and Librarian Whitley respectively.

Warder’s Shortbow

If you are looking for powerful bows then the Warder’s Shortbow is not what you are looking for. It is like the pistol in Counter Strike that could not be dropped or, in this case, could not be disenchanted. Warder’s Shortbow was added in the game via patch 2.0.1 as a level 2 item. Its speed rating is pretty mediocre which only ticks at 2.30. Furthermore, it can only inflict 1.3 damage per second or from 2 to 4 damage which is the puniest in World of Warcraft. To continue on, its durability is also nothing impressive as it is not a robust weapon. In fact, it would easily break in a simple situation. However, you can use 19 other bows that are quite similar to Warder’s Shortbow; these are:

  1. Baelog’s Shortbow (item level is 40 and requires level 35 players)
  2. Ogre Toothpick Shooter (item level is 49 and requires level 44 players)
  3. Alley’s Recurve (item level is 108 and requires level 67 players)
  4. Betrayal’s Sting (item level is 18 and requires level 14 players)
  5. Bow of Invisible Aim (item level is 30 and requires level 26 players)
  6. Darkspear Hunter’s Bow (item level is 2)
  7. Farstrider’s Bow (item level is 12)
  8. Fine Shortbow (item level is 16 and requires level 11 players)
  9. Hawkeye Bow (item level is 63 and requires level 58 players)
  10. Hunting Bow (item level is 11 and requires level 6 players)
  11. Shipwreck Bow (item level is 13 and requires level 8 players)
  12. Sylvan Shortbow (item level is 49 and requires level 44 players)
  13. Cadet’s Bow (item level is 6)
  14. Hornwood Recurve Bow (item level is 8 and requires level 3 players)
  15. Laminated Recurve Bow (item level is 16 and requires level 11 players)
  16. Primitive Bow (item level is 5)
  17. Worn Ranger’s Bow (item level is 9 and requires level 5 players)
  18. Worn Shortbow (item level is 2)
  19. Mishandled Recurve Bow (item level is 24 and requires level 19 players)
