World of Warcraft Weapons Guide: Crossbows – Part 5

This 5th part of the article series focusing in World of Warcraft Crossbows contains some of the most powerful bows in the game as well as some of the weakest. Crossbows do not always look fancy, gorgeous, or beautifully feisty but they still can pack a punch in them. When choosing weapons, it is important not to base your choice from looks alone (I know some players who do this). Continue reading and enjoy.

Crossbow of the Hand

Crossbow of the Hand is not a special or a powerful weapon in any way. This level 20 WoW item can only muster 13.2 damage per second (35 – 36 Damage) that it can inflict to its targets. Its speed is at 2.70 which is average for crossbows in World of Warcraft. There is completely nothing special about this WoW item. It sells for 11 Gold and is a reward from a quest titled “Ending Their World” which requires level 18 players.

Crossbow of the Hand is similar to these 9 models:

  1. Truestrike Crossbow (level 115 item, level 70 players)
  2. Arugoo’s Crossbow of Destruction (level 12 item, level 8 players)
  3. Barreled Crossbow (level 114 item, level 68 players)
  4. Citadel Crossbow (level 90 item, level 60 players)
  5. Crossbow of the Albatross (level 10 item, level 5 players)
  6. Expedition Repeater (level 93 item, level 61 players)
  7. Ironstar Repeater (level 93 item, level 61 players)
  8. Ram’s Head Crossbow (level 84 item, level 58 players)
  9. Draenic Light Crossbow (level 71 item, level 60 players)

Crossbow of Imminent Doom

The name of this crossbow might suggest something dark or bad but its impact is quite far from it. It is not to say that the Crossbow of Imminent Doom is weak (it is not weak), it just means that names and titles can be deceiving. This level 72 item will need level 69 players to pick it up for it to bind. When it binds, the Crossbow of Imminent Doom will increase the character’s agility by 7, strength by 5, and stamina by 5. When equipped, this WoW item can increase the character’s hit rating by 10 or 1.07%. Its speed of 3.10 is enough for this crossbow to induce 69.6 damage per second (172 – 259 Damage) to unlucky targets.  Plus, you do not have to worry about its durability as it has one of the highest durability ratings in the game. The Crossbow of Imminent Doom is sold for 6 Gold, 7 Silver, and 38 Bronze and was dropped by Ossirian the Unscarred  at the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraji.

This WoW item is the same model as:

  • Polished Ironwood Crossbow (level 71 item, level 60 players)
  • Coilfang Needler (level 91 item, level 62 players)

Crystalline Crossbow

Unlike the other crossbows we have discussed in this article, the Crystalline Crossbow is powerful. This WoW item is one of the best pre-raid weapons that you can use as a Hunter. Still, many WoW players argue with the Crystalline Crossbow’s use as they believe that other weapons are more worthy to use than this one. Plus, the fact that its design is not that good (some players call it “hideous”) does not help at all. The Crystalline Crossbow was added to the game in patch 2.1.0 as a level 100 weapon that will bind to characters in the 70th level or higher given that they have exalted Ogri’la. It binds when picked up and will automatically increase agility by 12 and stamina by 16. When equipped, the Crystalline Crossbow will increase hit rating by 11 points or 0.74%. The speed of this WoW item is 2.80 and it can induce 105.7 damage per second (236 – 356 Damage) to its targets. This bow is one of the most durable crossbows in the game. Despite its so-called “ugliness”, the Crystalline Crossbow is a good WoW item to use. This item is sold by Jho’nass at Blade’s Edge Mountains.

The Crystalline Crossbow is the same model as:

  1. Collapsible Crossbow (level 96 item, level 62 players)
  2. Hand of Argus Crossfire (level 16 item, level 10 players)
  3. Mighty Crossbow (level 102 item, level 64 players)
  4. Spymaster’s Crossbow (level 108 item, level 67 players)
  5. Dalaran Crossbow (level 80 item, level 70 players)
  6. Exodar Crossbow (level 5 item, level 2 players)

Crystalspine Stinger

Crystalspine Stinger, though a pretty plain weapon, is quite popular. It is popular not because it is powerful but because you can get it very easily. This level 32 item will bind to level 27 characters when equipped. Its speed is 2.80 and it can only induce 26.8 damage per second (59 – 90 Damage) to its targets. Durability wise, the Crystalspine Stinger is pretty average and will stand most battles. In fact, there are some players that can still use this even in level 41. At level 27, you can already afford to have more powerful crossbows than the Crystalspine Stinger. You can check the end part of this section to see the WoW items similar to this model. It sells for 47 Gold and 29 Silver and was dropped by 107 characters including:
